The smarter E Europe 2026 Concludes Successfully – Join Us in 2027

The smarter E Europe 2026, Europe's largest exhibition alliance for the energy industry, has successfully concluded in Munich, Germany. Covering four key sectors—solar energy, energy storage, e-mobility, and smart energy management—this year's event brought together more than 2,650 exhibitors from 52 countries and welcomed over 105,000 professional visitors from 163 countries, showcasing the latest innovations driving the global energy transition and sustainable development.

A total of 26 Taiwanese companies participated in The smarter E Europe 2026, demonstrating Taiwan's innovative capabilities in energy technology, smart grids, energy storage, solar energy, and e-mobility. A major milestone this year was the establishment of the first-ever Taiwan Pavilion at EM-Power Europe, highlighting Taiwan's strengths in smart energy management, grid digitalization, and integrated energy solutions while further enhancing the visibility of Taiwan's energy industry in the European market.

4th German Charity Soccer Tournament Raised NT$140,000 for Children with Special Needs

As the FIFA World Cup fuels excitement among football fans around the globe, we combined Germany’s passion for football with a commitment to social responsibility by hosting the 4th German Company Charity Soccer Tournament on June 26 at Taipei Gymnasium. This year’s tournament raised a total of NT$140,000, which was formally presented to the organization during an on-site donation ceremony. 

This year’s event once again highlighted the power of collective action. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with corporate partners and charitable organizations to create meaningful opportunities to support Taiwanese society in the years ahead.

On June 24, the Greater China Day 2026 in Düsseldorf brought together leading figures from business, politics and networks to discuss business development in Greater China. 

The event, co-hosted by AHK Greater China, German Industry and Commerce Ltd. Hong Kong, the German Trade Office Taipei, and the IHK Düsseldorf, once again confirmed its role as a vital platform for dialogue and exchange. 

The various discussions and thematic panels made it clear that German companies must further refine their strategies. Maintaining competitiveness requires a clear and realistic understanding of the region’s dynamics, alongside well-defined strategies for innovation, resilience, and collaboration opportunities.

GTO’s Chief Representative & Executive Director, Dr. Eva Langerbeck contributed to the event by moderating a panel titled “Innovation & Cooperation – Localization as a De-Risking Strategy?”, engaging in talks on how innovation processes are evolving across Greater China—and how these shifts are reshaping the way German companies do business. 

Concluding her Germany tour, Dr. Langerbeck emphasized the importance of newly forged connections, valuable exchanges, and continued momentum for strengthening Germany–Taiwan collaboration.

Lukas is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies, with a focus on Taiwanese politics and economics. He brings experience from communication departments of various German sports organizations in Germany and has a strong interest in public relations, media, and international affairs.

Having previously spent an exchange semester at National Taiwan University (NTU), Lukas is no stranger to Taiwan. He is thrilled to return, deepen his understanding of Germany–Taiwan relations, and further improve his Mandarin skills.

In his free time, Lukas enjoys hiking and swimming. That’s why he’s especially looking forward to exploring Taiwan’s breathtaking natural landscapes, from its beautiful beaches to its stunning mountain ranges.

Lukas will be part of our Media & Communications team until December, contributing to GTO’s online communications and publications.

igus has introduced an RFID Lock for its modular Module Connect connector system, helping manufacturers prevent unauthorized access to energy chain connections—from bus and power cables to fiber-optic cables and pneumatic hoses. The retrofit solution can be installed without tools and secures connectors with a mechanical locking mechanism that can only be released using an authorized RFID card. Upon request, all access events can be logged, which provides support regarding  maintenance, documentation, and quality processes, and ensures greater transparency during ongoing operations.

Designed for industrial applications, Module Connect combines power, data, fiber-optic, and pneumatic lines in a single interface, allowing up to 16 or more connections to be linked with one simple step. This modular approach reduces installation time by up to 80 percent, minimizes wiring errors, and simplifies system modifications, making it an efficient solution for both compact machines and large-scale industrial systems.

The Taiwan International Space Industry Expo (TASTI 2026), organized by the Taiwan Space Agency (TASA), will take place in Tainan, bringing together key players from the global space ecosystem. For the first time, a German Pavilion will be featured, offering a unique opportunity for German companies to showcase their technologies and strengthen connections with Taiwan’s rapidly growing space industry.

TASTI 2026 will be held alongside major international events, including the 15th NSAT+ (Nano-Satellite Symposium) and the 9th AOSWA (Asia-Oceania Space Weather Alliance Workshop), creating a comprehensive platform for academia, government, and industry to connect and collaborate. Taiwan is rapidly expanding its battery ecosystem to meet growing demand from electric vehicles and energy storage systems. The battery market is expected to grow from around US$2 billion in 2026 to more than US$3 billion by 2030.

While electric vehicle adoption is still relatively low, the market sees significant growth potential. That will translate into higher demand for batteries. Taiwanese companies are not only expanding domestic battery production but also manufacturing and partnership efforts in Europe, including Germany.

At the same time, stationary energy storage and backup power systems are emerging as important growth areas. Supported by government incentive programs, rising demand for AI data centers and renewable energy projects, as well as increasing research initiatives, the market is expected to expand significantly in the coming years.

To strengthen resource security and reduce reliance on China, Taiwan is promoting battery recycling, the recovery of critical materials and alternative supply chains, opening new opportunities for German companies and researchers.

Panjit Targets Expansion into Smart Mobility and Artificial Intelligence

Panjit International Inc. is focusing on new growth fields in smart mobility and AI computing, emphasizing automotive power semiconductors and motor control technologies.

As demand for electric vehicles and advanced automotive systems grows, the company is increasing its focus on applications such as battery management systems, vehicle safety and control functions. At the same time, Panjit is enhancing power management solutions for AI servers with advanced MOSFET technologies and innovative packaging designs that improve both energy efficiency and system reliability.

Foxconn Reaches Highest Revenue Ever Reported in June

Foxconn Technology Group (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd.) reported stronger-than-anticipated revenue growth, signaling continued robust demand for AI-related infrastructure. The company generated NT$821.8 billion (US$25.7 billion) in revenue in June, up 52.1% year-over-year, marking the strongest June performance in its history. 

Foxconn attributed the strong performance to growing demand across its cloud and networking products, particularly servers. The company said its first-half revenue rose 34.99% year-over-year to NT$4.64 trillion, marking the company’s highest-ever revenue for the first six months of a year.

Taiwan's Manufacturing Sector Expands for The Ninth Month in a Row

Taiwan’s manufacturing sector continued to expand in June, with the Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) reaching 60.7, extending its growth streak to nine consecutive months.

The electronics and optics industry led the growth, followed by the electrical and machinery equipment, transportation equipment, food and textiles, basic materials, and chemical and biomedical industries. All six sectors remained in expansion territory, driven by strong global demand across AI supply chains, according to the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER).

Taiwan and Poland Deepen Cooperation in Research and Development

Representatives of Taiwan & Poland signed a memorandum of understanding during the 2026 Taiwan Expo in Warsaw to strengthen cooperation in research and development. 

The partnership will focus on areas such as AI, semiconductors, smart manufacturing, green energy, medical technology, drones and electric vehicles. Both sides plan to establish a joint R&D platform and launch collaborative projects in 2027 to support innovation and create new market opportunities for Taiwanese and Polish companies.
