Automation Taipei 2026 brought together industry leaders to showcase the latest automation technologies and solutions.

We once again organized the German Pavilion, bringing together 20 German companies and making it the largest national pavilion at the exhibition. Exhibitors showcased innovative technologies and solutions spanning industrial automation, smart manufacturing, precision measurement, machine vision, industrial communication, and software.

During the exhibition, the German Pavilion also hosted two “Solution Pitch” sessions focused on AI data centers and high-tech facilities, as well as space and aerospace applications, highlighting the cross-industry potential of German automation technologies.

As Taiwan’s manufacturing sector rapidly advances toward AI-driven and sustainable production, industry leaders explored the transformative role of German engineering in shaping the future of industrial automation.

Last week, we were delighted to host a networking event under the theme “Intelligent & Sustainable Manufacturing: How German Engineering Is Driving the Next Industrial Transformation,” held alongside Automation Taipei 2026.

The evening opened with insightful presentations from leading industry experts, including Luigi Yang, Sales and Marketing Manager of Micro-Epsilon Taiwan Co. Ltd., Steven Liu, General Manager of Phoenix Contact Co., Ltd., and Henrison Fan, Director of Digital Industries at Siemens Taiwan. Together, they shared valuable perspectives on the future of manufacturing and how German technology continues to support innovation across Taiwan’s industrial landscape.

The discussion focused on how electrification, industrial connectivity, and advanced measurement technologies are helping manufacturers operate more efficiently while improving quality and reducing emissions. Participants also shared practical approaches to digital transformation for SMEs and discussed the capabilities and mindsets needed to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving global market, highlighting the growing value of German-Taiwanese collaboration.

Following the day’s events of the Automation Taipei fair, participants were able to share their impressions and insights from their industry over delicious food and German beer.

• Supporting commissioning and installations and SATs of new machines, on customers’ sites and – where necessary – during the finalization and FAT at our CoCs. Updating and completing site documentation.

Taiwan Chip Industry Forms Alliance to Strengthen Materials Supply

SEMI Taiwan has launched a semiconductor materials alliance to strengthen supply chain resilience and support rising demand driven by AI, advanced chip manufacturing, and next-generation packaging. Taiwan remains the world's largest semiconductor materials market, accounting for about 30% of global consumption.

Industry leaders said growing supply shortages present opportunities for local suppliers. The new alliance, which includes more than 30 semiconductor-related companies, aims to improve collaboration, secure critical materials, and reduce supply chain risks.

Taiwan Machine Tool Makers Benefit from Rising Semiconductor and AI Demand

Taiwan’s machine tool industry is recovering, with stronger orders and improving demand from the semiconductor, automation, and electronics sectors. Several companies report order backlogs extending into late 2026 and expect stronger performance in the third quarter.

Looking ahead, growth is expected to come from semiconductor equipment, aerospace, AI servers, drones, and robotics. To capture these opportunities, Taiwanese manufacturers are expanding into higher-value products and integrated automation solutions.

Kaohsiung Approves Land Expansion for TSMC Growth

Kaohsiung has approved the rezoning of nearly 30 hectares of former refinery land to support TSMC’s expanding operations at Nanzih Science Park. The city expects the expansion to generate NT$960 billion in economic output and create about 6,600 jobs.

TSMC’s first plant is already in production, with additional fabs scheduled to come online through 2027. Kaohsiung is also investing in transport upgrades and reclaimed water facilities to support semiconductor manufacturing as it shifts its economy from petrochemicals toward high-tech industries.

Taiwan Launches First SEMI E187 Cybersecurity Lab for Chip Equipment

Taiwan has opened the world’s first SEMI E187 cybersecurity testing laboratory for semiconductor equipment, reinforcing protection across the global chip supply chain. The certification system is expected to help equipment suppliers strengthen competitiveness, secure new orders, and support business opportunities worth around NT$5 billion.

Developed with support from the Ministry of Digital Affairs, SEMI, and TSMC, the SEMI E187 standard provides a common framework for evaluating the cybersecurity of semiconductor equipment before deployment. The initiative positions Taiwan as a leader in setting and validating industry standards, while supporting broader efforts to strengthen supply-chain security and expand Taiwan’s cybersecurity expertise globally.
